Wendy Welsh was named to her current position in 2001. She has nearly 20 years of experience in the utility industry.
Welsh started her career as General Accounting Supervisor at International Harvester. Prior to assuming an auditing position at Louisville Gas and Electric Company in 1984, she also had worked for John Deere & Company in Moline, Illinois, and Xerox Corporation in Dallas. Welsh held several management positions in LG&E's internal auditing, fuels and operating services, and information services areas. She subsequently became LG&E Energy's Vice President, Administration and Vice President, Information Technology before being promoted to her present position.
Welsh has a bachelor's degree in accounting and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Louisville. She has a CPA certification.
Welsh is currently Chair of the Louisville Water Company, where she has served on the Audit and Compensation Committee. She is a board member of Junior Achievement and was previously Chair of the organization. Welsh was on the boards of Leadership Louisville, the Louisville Ballet and VIPS (Visually Impaired Preschool).
