Family Assistance

Maintaining your mental and emotional health is just as important as ensuring your physical health. If you or a dependent family member needs help with personal problems, E.ON U.S.'s Family Assistance Plan (FAP) is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

All calls and counseling services are confidential, and a simple phone call starts the process with no red tape. Initial counseling services are free, including up to six visits. If longer term or more specialized treatment is necessary, FAP counselors will help explore options available within the mental health coverage under your health insurance benefit or community resources.

What is the Family Assistance Plan?
The FAP provides professional help to employees, retirees, spouses and dependent family members on a short-term basis for personal problems such as:

  • emotional difficulties
  • marital conflicts
  • alcohol and drug problems
  • parent-child family conflicts
  • stress
  • relationship issues
  • financial concerns
  • eldercare referral services
  • childcare referral services
  • legal and financial referral services

This program, paid for by E.ON U.S., is administered by the Wayne Corporation, a private consulting firm that specializes in personal counseling. The FAP helps individuals with personal problems and also helps managers and supervisors when employees' problems are interfering with performance at work.

How do I access service?
Contact the FAP by calling the Wayne Corporation at (502) 451-8262 on weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Those outside the Louisville area may call toll free 1-800-441-1327. Emergency calls may be made at any time.

How does it work?
Any eligible individual may contact the FAP directly or, you may be referred for counseling by a family member, supervisor, Human Resources, or a coworker.

To begin to deal with concerns and to plan a course of action, free assessment and counseling sessions with the FAP counselor are provided. These meetings are used to explore problems, to bring difficulties into focus, to evaluate strengths and weaknesses, and to plan specific steps toward dealing with the concerns or conflicts. Such steps may include referral to qualified local professionals or agencies.

What about confidentiality?
The right to privacy is one of the most crucial aspects of the program. Whether self-referred or referred by others, the individual's right to confidentiality is respected. To the extent permitted by law, Wayne Corporation will not share any information regarding an individual's involvement with the FAP without his or her written permission.

Does the FAP offer online services?
The Wayne Corporation's online interactive FAP services are convenient, accessible and effective and offer:

  • Personalized, self-paced assistance
  • Structured tools for assessing and solving problems
  • Anonymous access from home or work

This service is available for use by members and all dependents and can be accessed from a computer at any location — work, home, library, etc. — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
