George Siemens

Vice President, External Affairs

George Siemens was named to his current position in 2000. He has more than 25 years of experience in the electric and natural gas utility industry.


Siemens started his career as Assistant to the Executive Director of Associated General Contractors. Before joining Louisville Gas and Electric Company as Director, External Affairs in 1982, he also had been Assistant Director of the Building and Housing Inspection Department for the City of Louisville; State Director of the Commonwealth of Kentucky Department of Labor; a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives; a practicing attorney at Gittleman, Charney & Barber; and Director, Community Affairs for the Jefferson County Public School system.


Siemens has a bachelor's degree from the University of Louisville, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Louisville's Brandeis School of Law. He has also completed the High Performance People Skills Program at the E.ON Academy, London School of Business, the Management Development Course at the Center for Creative Leadership and continuing professional legal development through programs offered by the Kentucky Energy & Mineral Law Foundation and the Kentucky Bar Association.


His professional/trade memberships include the Kentucky Bar Association and the Louisville Bar Association. Siemens is a board member of the Kentucky Association of Manufacturers, University of Louisville Board of Overseers, the Jefferson Club and Leadership Kentucky. He is Vice Chairman of the National Center for Family Literacy, serves on Greater Louisville, Inc.'s Public Policy and Education Advisory Committees, Chairman of Greater Louisville, Inc. Education Committee, is a member of the University of Louisville Alumni Association, Energy Bar Association, Energy Mineral Association, and an ex officio member of the Kentucky Farm Bureau Energy and Transportation Advisory Committee.
