Thank you for choosing to use our Home Energy Calculator. In order to help you as you make your selections and evaluate the information provided, please review the following information before getting started.

The Home Energy Calculator is designed to serve as a tool to help you determine where potential energy savings exist. Lifestyle differences and your current usage patterns play a big part in determining the actual amount of your energy bill.

Many customers, especially those who rent their homes, aren't likely to know the year their home was built. Most people, however, are likely to know the approximate age of their home's furnace or central air conditioning system. Therefore, we ask that you use the age of your home's furnace when you make your selection in the "Year Home Built" field.

Be as accurate as possible as you make all of your selections because doing so will provide you with a more accurate estimate of your home's current energy costs.

Don't be overly concerned if the estimates you receive are different from your actual bills.

Again, the calculator is designed to be used as a guide and a tool for helping you determine where potential energy savings may exist.

Factors, such as weather, the age of your appliances and even the number of showers you and your family members take each day, can all have an impact on the amount of energy you use. Therefore, it is important to keep in mind the amount of energy you and your family members are actually using and make certain adjustments to account for those factors.

Our Home Energy Calculator also comes with helpful tips for using less energy and a glossary of important terms. Try it today!
