Save Energy, Reduce Costs with LG&E, KU's New HVAC Diagnostic and Tune-Up Program

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Heating and cooling costs can be responsible for up to 60 percent of annual energy costs, which is why Louisville Gas and Electric Company and Kentucky Utilities Company encourage customers to perform regular maintenance on their Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems.

As part of its expanded energy efficiency portfolio, LG&E and KU now offer residential and commercial customers the opportunity to have their HVAC systems diagnosed and tuned-up at a discounted rate.

Customers interested in the program must first schedule an HVAC diagnostic inspection that is designed to identify common problems that could cause system inefficiency, such as air-restricted indoor and outdoor coils and improper refrigerant levels.

Upon completion of an HVAC inspection, the technician will notify a customer if corrective action is necessary and provide a list of qualified dealers who offer discounted HVAC tune-up services for LG&E and KU customers.

The discounted cost for the HVAC diagnostic is $35 for residential and $50 for commercial customers per air conditioning unit. If corrective action is recommended after the diagnostic, the discounted cost for the tune-up is $50 for residential and $100 for commercial customers per air conditioning unit.

"Determining where your HVAC system needs improvement and then taking action can immediately reduce both energy use and costs," said Cheryl Bruner, Director, Customer Energy Efficiency, for E.ON U.S., parent of LG&E and KU. "Regular maintenance is essential to extend the serviceable life of an HVAC system, and a small investment can save customers a lot in the long run."

Interested customers can call 1-800-356-5467 to schedule an appointment or visit www.eon-us.com/hvac for more information.

Eligible customers include residential and small commercial customers (averaging two HVAC systems) with central air conditioning or heat pump systems. This program is not designed to include or repair non-operational HVAC systems.
