CFL Promotion to Help Customers Reduce Energy Use
Louisville, Ky. — On Oct. 10, E.ON U.S. will distribute 14,000 compact fluorescent bulbs as part of Energy Star's "Change the World Campaign." Any customer who visits one of the 27 LG&E and KU business office locations that day can receive one Energy Star-rated CFL bulb.
The "Change the World Campaign" is a national call-to-action by the U.S. Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Agency to conserve energy and reduce carbon and greenhouse gas emissions. By replacing just five incandescent bulbs with CFLs, a customer can prevent the production of more than 880 pounds of CO2, and save up to $27 annually in energy costs.
"Because October is our Customer Service Month, participating in the Energy Star campaign allows us to give back to our customers while also helping them increase their energy savings and help out the environment," said John P. Malloy, Vice President, Energy Delivery — Retail Business.
While at the business offices, customers are encouraged to reduce their carbon footprint and save energy by signing the Energy Star Pledge. By signing the pledge, customers make a commitment to replace at least one incandescent bulb in their home with a CFL.
The promotion will be during normal business office hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until supplies last.
