Arena Project Requires Power Network Switching in Portions of Downtown on June 29

LG&E Recommends Customers Back up Computer Data as a Precaution

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — As part of the ongoing work associated with the new downtown arena, Louisville Gas and Electric Company plans to switch over a portion of downtown Louisville's power network to a recently constructed electric substation on June 29 beginning at 5 a.m., subject to weather conditions.

The utility expects no service interruptions as part of the change-over; however, it is advising downtown customers as a precaution to back up computer data in advance.

Customers served by the new substation are located between Floyd and Ninth streets and from River Road to Chestnut Street.

The property on which the old substation is located is scheduled to be turned over to the Arena Authority by the end of summer. This will be a major step in the ongoing support of the new downtown arena and economic development within the community.

Customers are asked to call the LG&E Customer Service Department at 589-1444 if they have questions.
