Students to Receive Back-to-School Supplies from E.ON U.S. Employees

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — It's back-to-school time again, and obtaining school supplies is about to become a little easier for many local students and parents, thanks to the generosity of E.ON U.S. employees.

Beginning at 4 p.m. tomorrow in the basement of LG&E's Broadway Office Complex, located at 820 W. Broadway, E.ON U.S. employees will gather to assemble more than 3,000 school supply kits, and distribute the kits on Aug. 11, at five Louisville-area housing projects. (A complete list is attached.) The employees will coordinate the school supply drive for The Lord's Kitchen, a charitable organization that feeds the hungry and homeless in Louisville.

Each kit will include paper, pocket folders, glue sticks, pencils, as well as other supplies. Once assembled, the kits will be placed in backpacks and separated by school age — elementary, middle and high school. The Louisville-area housing projects will receive 2,300 backpacks and the remaining 700 will be placed in Jefferson County Public School resource centers and The Lord's Kitchen.

Fred Jackson, director of Generation Services for E.ON U.S., and his team lead the effort to guarantee that students have the materials they need to succeed in school. "By providing the necessary school supplies it allows E.ON U.S., its employees and partners to serve the less fortunate families in our communities with a resource that helps them prepare for the upcoming school year.

This is the sixth year E.ON U.S. employees have participated and funded the back-to-school supply drive.
