LG&E, Beeline Courier Team Up To Promote Electric Cars

(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) Louisville Gas and Electric Company and Beeline Courier Service, Inc. are teaming up to promote alternative-fueled vehicles and environmental awareness.

Louisville-based Beeline recently partnered with Louisville Metro Government to service several daily downtown routes utilizing two electric-powered cars. Studies show emissions from operating electric vehicles are generally 28 times less than vehicles powered by gasoline.

"Our delivery cars travel thousands of miles a day, and when you look at the cost of plugging in versus pumping gas — particularly in the city — it made a lot of sense for us to partner with LG&E on this promotion," said Louie Seger, Vice President and Co-Founder of Beeline Courier Service.

Chip Keeling, Vice President of Communications for E.ON U.S., added: "This electric car promotion was a no-brainer for us. It's an extension of our dedication to a clean environment; a commitment in which we've spent hundred of millions of dollars to produce cleaner energy for all of our customers."

Dubbed "Clean Air Couriers," the vehicles are charged and housed by LG&E and owned and operated by Beeline. Fully-charged Beeline electric cars can travel 15 times as far as a gasoline car for the same money.
