LG&E Energy Foundation Awards Scholarships to Area Students: More than $48,000 in Tuition Assistance Awarded
(LOUISVILLE, Ky. - July 5, 2005) As part of its long-standing commitment to education, the LG&E Energy Foundation has awarded scholarships to 10 outstanding high school graduates.
Each student, whose parents are employees of LG&E Energy or its subsidiaries, will receive annual scholarships of $1,200 to be used toward college expenses.
"The Foundation's scholarship program reinforces our belief that education is the key to success and this program is one way in which we can help ensure that qualified individuals receive a jump-start on a successful future," said Chip Keeling, Vice President of Communications, LG&E Energy. "We wish all of the recipients luck as they enter a new and exciting period in their development."
Scholarship committee members, made up of independent judges outside of LG&E Energy, selected the recipients based on academic skills, school and community activities, leadership abilities, and work experience. Scholarships are renewed each year, as long as the student continues to meet eligibility requirements.
