LG&E to Roll Out McGruff Truck Program for Kids at Lincoln Elementary
WHAT: Louisville Gas and Electric Company (LG&E) is partnering with McGruff, The Crime Dog, to help children when they may be in distress or in an emergency situation. LG&E trucks will be labeled with the McGruff logo, designating them as a source of help. When assistance is needed, LG&E's McGruff Truck drivers will call for assistance.
LG&E employees, with support from Louisville Metro Police representatives, will teach students at Lincoln Elementary School how to look for the McGruff logo on LG&E trucks - the proper way to signal for help - and when it would be appropriate to ask an LG&E driver for help.
The Photo/Interview Op: Students in a school assembly learning about the new program from LG&E employees, and practicing the correct way of waving for help. McGruff will be present as well. After the demonstration, Bucket truck rides will be given to two children who can demonstrate the correct hand signals. Each child will wear the appropriate safety equipment - an LG&E hardhat, safety glasses and harness, labeled "Friend of McGruff." McGruff the Crime Dog will also be on hand.
WHERE: Lincoln Elementary School, 930 E. Main St.
