LG&E Energy Customers Can Now View and Pay Their Bills on the Internet
(Louisville, Ky. - May 16, 2003) Customers of LG&E Energy's regulated utility companies, Louisville Gas and Electric Company (LG&E), Kentucky Utilities Company (KU) and Old Dominion Power (ODP), can now view and pay their bills over the Internet.
This program is expected to be a welcome addition to customers who already use the Internet for banking and other services.
"We're hoping customers will save our Web site as one of their 'favorites,'" said Butch Cockerill, LG&E Energy's Director of Revenue Collection. "It's quick, convenient and customers can access their account information around-the-clock."
Internet bill payment is the latest in a number of payment options offered to LG&E Energy's utility customers. Payment methods include:
- Automatic Bank Club (ABC) Program - Customers can sign up to have their monthly utility payment automatically deducted from their checking account on the payment due date.
- Mail – a convenient return envelope is included with the company's monthly statements.
- Telephone – Customers can call a toll-free number and use their checking account or a debit or credit card to make their payment. (Transaction fees apply to telephone payments.)
"Our goal is to have a plan available that offers convenience and flexibility and suits every customer's lifestyle," said Cockerill.
To take advantage of the many features the site offers, customers must first register their account online by entering relevant account information (including the meter number), all of which can be found on the customer's monthly statement.
Once registered, users can select from a variety of features, including Bill View (up to 12 months' usage history is available), Bill Payment (electronic funds transfer, debit or credit card payments accepted), Automatic Bank Club (ABC) registration, and e-bill (an e-mail notification that the customer's utility bill is available for online viewing in lieu of the standard paper bill customers receive in the mail).
LG&E has developed this program over the past several months, testing it with employees and others to ensure safety and security.
