For as little as $5 each month, LG&E and KU offer you the opportunity to support local and regional renewable energy.
For each $5 purchase of LG&E or KU Green Energy, we ensure that 300 kilowatt hours (kWh) of pure renewable energy is delivered onto the Kentucky transmission grid from new renewable energy sources and from a growing number of other renewable energy sources, such as wind power and biomass.
Green Energy enrollments are necessary to fund the continued growth of renewable energy. Because renewable energy costs more to develop, voluntary purchases of Green Energy certificates are for now the strongest means of growing renewable energy sources in and around Kentucky by helping to pay the additional costs. Won't you join us in our efforts to make the future greener for future generations.

The kilowatt-hours (kWhs) above represent the resource makeup of each 300 kWh block of Green Energy you have purchased from KU/LG&E. Your direct electricity supply contains the following mix of resources: Coal (97%), Natural Gas (2%), and Large Hydroelectric (1%).
1 These figures reflect the Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) that we have contracted to provide from renewable energy resources. Actual figures may vary according to resource availability. We will annually report to you the actual resource mix of the Green Energy you purchased during the preceding year. By purchasing and retiring renewable energy certificates from specific eligible renewable facilities, we ensure that electricity is delivered to the regional power grid from the promised renewable resources equal to your Green Energy purchase. Average residential KU and LG&E customers use 900 kWh of electricity per month. Three blocks of Green Energy is therefore required to match average electricity consumption.
2 New Renewables are generation facilities in operation on or after January 1, 1997.
